1989 CHEVROLET K5 BLAZER
In contrast to other Time Warp creations, this K5 Blazer is as close to a complete restoration as we have yet done. Retaining all the classic styling of its original form, this Blazer features just a few modern twists to make it comfortable for the 21st century driver.
We started with the original body and chassis as the heart of the build. We refinished the body in Chevrolet’s new White Diamond Clear Coat and completely reupholstered the interior of the vehicle. Along with a complete re-carpeting, this vehicle was outfitted with modern Chevrolet power seats for added comfort.
To get this blazer up and running and into the modern era, we swapped the tired stock motor for a Chevy Vortec 6.0L V8. This new motor allowed the Blazer to make some real horsepower, but also reap the benefits of modern fuel injection. Horsepower is great, but you need to be able to stop as well. For stopping power, we fitted this K5 with a rear disc brake conversion kit and complete Wilwood brake system.
Off-road capability comes courtesy of several overhauls to the suspension and drivetrain, Extra ground clearance comes courtesy of a BDS 4″ suspension lift with Fox shocks and dual stabilizers. Both front and rear diffs were overhauled and re-geared with 4.10 gears.
Finally, we finished off this restoration by fitting it with chrome wheels from Fuel Off-Road and BF Goodrich KO2 tires.
